New Chapter

Now that I am done with my education at RCC - I must continue. SO MUCH MORE TO LEARN!!!! I've used the summer to move to the Great City of Chicago! I've applied and got accepted into the most amazing School. School of Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). This journey has been a growing experience for me to say the least. O - the mountain I've had to climb to get to this point. God has paved the way, no other way to explain how I got here. He funds me, comforts me, secures me and sends me. I only obey.

In other news: Jack Kent Cooke Foundation has accepted me as a scholar. This is a wonderful organization, a wonderful community of support. I am so very blessed to be a part of this family.

Orientation is this Saturday-Tuesday. I start my first class Wednesday - O THE ANITICPATION!!!!!! I cannot wait!

The boys also return to me next week. I am busting with joy just thinking about our new life here. They are also attending a fantastic school in the South Loop. God is so good to us - to him be the GLORY!

...its complicated.

This is my latest and greatest - I must fore warn you - it is not for the light hearted. This final piece is one that is personal. I met with an SAIC representative last August and he told me that I needed a final piece that was personal - he stressed that it had to have some part of me in it. So I took everything he told me and worked on this final piece over our winter break. It is filmed over the spoken poetry of Kevin Max, a former DC Talk band member (Christian Band) who now does bible readings along with poetery. It is deep and very near and dear to me - enjoy! (... or not enjoy.)

Portfolio. Portfolio

This semester I am taking a Portfolio Class.
Good thing I've been keeping up with my work and have already submitted my portfolio to SAIC. check it out:

For this video, my brother David Inthisane bought a brand new camera. It was a friday night, he was excited about the new glass HD lense that had arrived. I said, "ok - come over," so he came over and started taking pictures. I said, alright take pictures of my work. Nothing was set up - the lighting was perfect. I started pulling projects from my closet and he just started shooting. There they were, images directly from my bedroom. An hour later, he went home. I breifly explained to him that I admire the work of Lauren Greenfield, and I show him her site. I told him I like the still shots incorporated with live video. I told him I like the beat and the music. He said - ok, I'll see what I can do. Saturday eveining he called me up saying he'd been working all day on putting together my video; all day long...here is the final product.

GODIVA - DONE

WOW - what an intense week it has been. I've been working around the clock on the Godiva project. Concept Statement (check), Mood boards (check), Floor plan in scale (check), interior elevations (check), perspective renderings (check), fixture drawings (check), signage and sign holders (check) - and much, much more. 4 months on this project and I still think I could have done more. In conclusion I gave it my all. Blood sweat and tears went in and we will see the outcome by the end of the year. Now I must focus on the EMT station in Asheboro, that's right - on to the next project. I hope we can satisfy this great crew and give them a great enviornment to work in. I must also focus on my Textile class along with Interior History and Math 140. So much to do - so little time. I'm hoping for more challenging project in the near future for I must submit a new portfolio to SAIC in hopes of earning a scholarship for next fall. Wish me Luck. I will post the Godiva project soon!

Update

Since last post so much has happened. I was blessed and was able to receive a great scholarship from the WithIt organization this pass summer. What a great and positive thing the WithIt is doing. I am honored to be apart of this great team. Another great Furniture Market has just passed through High Point. I was able to meet with and enjoy time with some old co-workers in the Furniture industry. In school - we are now finishing up our fall semester and are pretty slammed with projects. Godiva has a wonderful competition going on that our class is participating in. Getting our hands on SketchUp and Podium has been quite an experience. I will try harder step away from these overwhelming projects to keep this blog updated. I should be able to post more images soon.

Spring break

B.e.a.utiful.
Its finally spring break.
This down time was surely long over due. What a beautiful week so far. Furniture Market is coming up in High Point. I've applied for an internship position as a visual merchandising assistant and have not heard anything yet - lets keep our fingers crossed. Out side of the boys frequent soccer games I've had time to rest and enjoy the blooms a blossoms of Jamestown, I've also found time to be inspired and encouraged by this wonderful change of season. It is now Thursday and I've been working on our Cube project for our color theory class. Here are some updated images of that (note: all images are subject to change for our process must be improved by instructors). I've also found some time to draft elevations and color render for our interior design class. I should have photos later this week...

~good day to all!
